This is a collection of our day trips and short breaks in the UK which I decided to start recording here at the beginning of 2019, this is mainly aimed at my own personal memories.
Most of the time when I have a weekend off we just end sitting in the pub in town and very little else but with the New Year, we have decided we have to get out to more places by using the discounted train tickets that I can buy online from work. These are great value for money as a return to London would normally cost in the region of £40 but only cost us £6 and that entitles us to get on and off anywhere all day on South Western Railway, we also get the same with Great Western so we could go from Portsmouth to Penzance for £6 when a single would cost £98 (return would cost £112) although its not really practical to do in a day it is possible.
We don't expect to use them all or even get out somewhere every third Saturday that I get off work due to the weather, train strikes and so on but we will be making more use of them this year, I think we only used 2 or 3 last year so that's something that will change and I plan to record our trips on this blog.
Hopefully, over the next few months, this will to fill out with the day trips that will, in turn, give us more ideas for places to go preferably for free, we'll probably still end up sat in pubs but at least it makes a change to be in a different place.
Something I also want to get back into is photography which has seemed to have taken a back seat lately so when I do take photos they end up being no more than snaps of the day or nothing more than a record of what we did, it's hard to find inspiration in the local area these days even though I'm sure there are plenty of good photo opportunities still to be had but I need some fresh ideas by going further afield which always helps me get more creative.
So that gives you an idea what this blog is about and maybe even gives those who read it some ideas of attractions to visit, whats the cost and how we got from place to place with a wheelchair.
